Business Website Designers - Documentation
Welcome to the Business Website Designers documentation site
This site serves as an ongoing manual to maintain, edit and update your own business website. Why would you want to do this? So you don't have to pay for a website designer each time you want to make routine edits to your pages, update text or add a new page. Everything you could want will be right here.Table of contents
Getting Around
There are many ways to get around this documentation (known as a "Wiki"). At the top of each page, there will usually be a list of "tags". Clicking on these tags will give you a list of all resources (not just pages) that relate to the tag. So if you clicked on "articles", you would get a list of all pages/forums/image galleries/blogs that were tagged with "articles". It is sort of like an index. but much more flexible. Most likely, you will want to use the built in category system. All pages on this wiki are categorised, to group pages that relate to a single topic. For example, you may wish to visit the "modules" category because you want to learn how to edit or create a new module on your website. The category list can be accessed by clicking Categories in the left side menu. To get started, here are the categories we have currently:
Category: Website Introduction
Category: Website Articles (Pages)
Category: Website Backup
Category: Website Menus
Category: Website Links
Category: Polls

First Time Visitors - Read This!
We have compiled a quick list of pages for new clients to look at to get started on maintaining their Joomla! site. Get started quickly with Intro To Your Site.FAQs - sort of a glossary: deeper explanations
Some of the terms you come across will be new and need to be explained. Other times, you'll be reading a tutorial that involves a fairly detailed screen with lots of options. So that we can fully describe everything, without cluttering up each tutorial, we have an FAQ (Frequently Aksed Questions) category - this is generally the "backstory" on a term or phrase used. So if you wanted to understand what the hell a "CMS" is, you could click a link to it and get the full explanation. Not a good thing if you want "quick and easy", but very handy if you want to understand more about your site and how it really works.
